There was a very significant death in the family- Logan's grandfather, but moreso his main father figure, died unexpectedly of a massive heart attack on early Sat morning. We sat vigil all night with his grandmother, uncle and aunt. Needless to say, it's been a rough couple of days.
Now: We went to the funeral and mass yesterday, and today... we took off. Family went back to TX, Logan is.. well, a mess, quite honestly.
I'm seriously contemplating sending them both to SC and selling them through a trainer. There has just been so much upheaval these past 2 years, I am floundering. And now I'm using this as my private journal, when it started as an attempt to document a young horse's journey.. an optimistic approach to helping a good horse find a new home. It is endlessly frustrating and disappointing to me- mostly in my own limitations- that it may very well end in supreme failure. But I will make sure they have the best chance of doing well, should it come to that. I have a couple trainers who I have heard great things about, who travel to Aiken yearly. Sherwood will only be sold in Area 2 or 3, to give her new owner the best chance of success. Andi.. Poor Andi. Another home. Another trial and vet check, another.. new place. Honestly, poor Sher, too.. Mareface and I may have a rocky relationship, but I know she trusts me and respects me far more than anyone else. And I just hope she finds someone who sees all her good sides, and loves her through her bad sides, too.
Then what? I don't know.
PS. Sher did not have laminitis- just massive abscesses. We cntinued to soak, then poultice, and today was the first day she had bare feet again. She's still tender, but not lame. Farrier will be out in 2 weeks to trim or put shoes back on her.
Guy has not been out to take any more dirt.
